I apologize to anyone offended by my emotional ramblings and spewing of irrelevemt information. That is why I have deleted all of my previous post except what I hope is a relevent, fact based statement.

Thank you, one and all.

This saddens me. I realize that a person has a right to delete their own post but I really wish you hadn't done that. There are a couple things I have to say. First, I like the spirited debate. I think that there are times when we all agree with each other so much that there is little to say about things. Even though Samie and Whoville may have phrased some things in a way that I wouldn't have, I am glad that they posted. I am quite sure I phrase some things in ways that others wouldn't. For all I know I was included in the group that was spewing and emotional but, personally, I could not care less. This is a public forum, and being such, everyone has a right to their own opinions. I really didn't see any post in this thread that I considered a personal attack on anyone else, just a difference of opinions. Second thing would be that I, and I am certain, others enjoy reading personal stories or thoughts on how others feel about an issue and why. What seems irrelevant to some may seem totally relevant to others. I also have to say, as a personal note to Cloudy, I thoroughly love your post. I may not always agree with everything you say but you have been a very valuable addition to our forum family. It saddens me that you removed some of what you had posted.

I was not offended at all Cloudy and I don't see why anyone else should have been, either. I wish you didn't delete your posts. I think we should all be mature enough to agree to disagree at times. That is what makes the forum family more interesting. We agree on a lot of things, but every now and then, we disagree.

TM-You hit the nail on the head.I started to post to Cloudy too,but I didn't want to butt in.You are more eloquent in that department.I know for a fact that at times I ramble and spew, but thats who I am and thats why I stay on here. You peeps let me be me without chastizing(sp) me or making me feel stupid.I don't need anybodys help I can manage that just fine.
As Lilmama says,we have our differences at times, but we still have our right in this country to say what we want.
Cloudy,You have been a breath of fresh air for us,and we don't want you to hold back your feelings.
Okay,I'm through spewing-BUT-I'll be bbbbbaaaaaccccckkkkkk Very Happy

I agree with TM and Lilmama (and TNT--I want that recipe), (EDIT: and Lindy, who just posted!), Cloudy. I didn't get to read what you deleted, but I wish I had. Unless you slip up and write something undeniably offensive/personal in a fit of anger (which I can NOT see you doing), there's no reason to delete anything. We all have certain issues that really push our buttons, but that's the fun of being all together in a group like this. We can talk out those issues and get new ideas and spread our own ideas around. If you're passionate about something, tell us how you feel and why! Even if it seems irrelevant when you write it, I'm sure there's something to be learned from almost ANY emotion-fueled post.

I think if I deleted all the things I've said here that were irrelevent or emotional rambling, I'd probably have to delete about 97.2% of all my posts!!!

That's the great thing about the net though. There's bound to be dozens of web-sites that have only pertinent and relevent information to read. Like the the pages of the U.S. State Department, the NYSE, an online IT training manual, the annual reports of any Corporation, etc.

For those of us who want to read energetic, colorful, fun-filled and emotional posts, there are hundreds of millions of web-sites.... like this one.

And I think another thing that may have been overlooked is the simple fact that NOT EVERYBODY HERE lives in Eddyville! (Some of us even live in DIFFERENT STATES besides Kansas) How are we supposed to have any relevent information to add?

PostSubject: Re: PROTEST   Fri Jun 19, 2009 10:05 am

Lilmama and I were out of town visiting our folks this past week when all this protest stuff went down.

Ironically, while we were out there, we ran into some friends of ours that still live where lilmama grew up. One of the guys is a volunteer fireman in that town. In fact the whole fire department is a volunteer force.

This particular town is about half the population of Edwardsville, but their fire crew covers not only the town but half the county as well.

Anyways, this guy told us that everybody gets paid $10 per fire.

I'm not saying it's an apples to apples comparison, but that figure stuck in my brain, and when we got back and read about that protest that's what initially sparked me to write. I forgot to mention it in my other posts.

So, if you figure maybe 12 guys getting $10 bucks each would be maybe $1.2k per fire in manpower costs to this particular city, which is a far cry from what I calculated for Edwardsville ($62k per fire).

I know it's not apples to apples, but it's certainly not pumpkins to apples. Maybe oranges to apples. Or pears to apples. I'm going bananas!

I thank all of you for your support. Maybe I was a little premature in deleting part of the post, I admit that. However, the rebuke was personal and quite public and I felt the need to remove the offending material. Had I been contacted by pm and this said to me in private I would have been not so hasty and not removed the material.

Yes, sometimes I DO get emotional about Nursing. It is a career I loved with all my heart and still do. Thanks to an incompetent surgeon I've had that career ripped from my heart. I am now disabled and can no longer practice something I loved nearly as much as Jesus. So, to feel like that was criticized and pooh-poohed so publicly made me nuts. Am I too sensitive about it? You bet your sweet a$$ I am. How many times do we get to have a job we absolutely love? Be honest! anyway. . .

I am sorry for hijacking this thread. It was not my intent.

Cloudy

What is the point you are trying to make Samie ? That firefighters die ?

Yes I guess that could be part of my point, we should not ask anyone to give there life for $10 per call. We should not be so selfish and expect this kind of sacrifice from fellow human beings.

I don't think you will find anyone on this board advocating that we should pay firefighters $10 per call. TNT's point, if I understood it right, was that there are many around our country who fire fires as much as a public service as they do to make a living. In his original post TNT said upfront that he was playing devils advocate, that being said, is it or is it not true that the fire Chief said publicly that 4 men could run a rig ? If that is true, I see where the cut may have been justified. If that is not true, I would like to hear it from someone who knows and understands why it isn't true. I would also very much like to know what the agreement was that resolved the protest. Everyone on here has the deepest respect and admiration for the men and women who serve the public, be that Firefighters, Police or EMTs. That isn't the issue as I am seeing it. The main question is whether it is safe for a crew of 4 men to run a rig and whether there were other areas that cuts could be made.

Samie,Lots of people die in service .Iraq,Viet Nam,Germany,Kelly Murphy, and guess what?Alot of people give their life for no money-My's husband trying to help a woman and her kids.Lifes not even-some people like sports players make millions and are idolized and help nobbody.
I would think the firefighter making 10.00 per call might be a volunteer in some way.T&T correct me if I'm wrong.

Samie, you totally missed Tnt's point. I think TM summarized it very well.

Tnt has nothing against firefighters, police officers, EMT's, unions, etc.

Actually, we are very close friends to quite a few firefighters and police officers.

Anyways, Tnt's point was that he was trying to give another perspective on the issue and make suggestions as to where waste can be eliminated so that the city could save money!

I can't believe those heartless monsters. Killing all those innocent baby carrots just to make a photo. They will never have the chance to grow into mature carrots, to develop seeds of their own, or to sprout delicious greens to be munched-on by lady bugs and bunnies. They will never have the chance to be plucked from the garden, bringing pride and a sense of satisfaction to the gardener, who so painstakingly planted them in a neat row. How sad. How utterly sad...

I meant no harm (and surely did not mean to encourage deleting posts) in my previous ramblings on. I realize this is a conversation, and that conversations do tend to wander somewhat.

I also meant no disrespect to any of the previous postings in this (or any) thread.

I will try to review my comments prior to hitting that 'send' button. I was just trying to applaud a previous post that seemed to be very well thought out and constructive.

Please accept my humble apology for the 'critical' tone in my previous posting.

Sincerely,
Who
