| Thanks, Mrs. Jones. I got something like that at my college email address and hadn't bothered to read it yet. Looks like I can cross that off my to-do list. |

| I've gotten a lot of emails from Paypal, but I read a while back not to click on any links, and especially not to reveal my password. Best thing to do with those is to sign on to your account from the actual website and make sure there are no problems or alerts that need your attention. If you follow links from phishing emails and submit your password, they could get access to your account! Scary. |

| have gotten the PAYPAL one many times. I know of several folks that have fallen for it because it looks so legit. What is so dangerous about that one is they have all of you credit card information usually 2 of them and also your bank accounts. I can't imagine how much money has been taken that way. Ebay now owns PAYPAL and will send announcements about PAYPAL through Ebay which has cut down on the fraud quite a bit. Ebay says if you don't get an email through your Ebay account then it's not legit. Now if you don't do Ebay but still use PAYPAL you could get screwed real easy. _________________ All of my possessions for but a moment of time.

| I cleaned up a trojan that was sent to me under a link from someone I had not heeard from in years. Now my internet explorer does not work. It sometimes goes to MSN but 90% of the time it goes to google and says I have a trojan, blah, blah, blah. It added several websites to my favorites which I deleted. I had to use AOL to get online for work & here on my office computer. I am waiting for tech support from McAfee because company tech support says they can fix it. Has anyone heard about it? Or how to fix it? _________________ Come sit on the beach with me and lets watch the waves come in together

| It's news to me! Thanks for the heads-up though. I've heard before that certain infections can snag a name from your address book and send you a virus "from them". Thath's dethpicable Tali |

 | Subject: ALERT: Conficker Worm - April 1‏ Tue Mar 31, 2009 9:16 pm | |
| WHAT’S GOING ON? You may have heard or seen information regarding the latest worm, Conficker. This worm has a target date of April 1, 2009, when all infected computers are expected to start downloading something and to do something. No one knows exactly WHAT yet, but the important thing is to ensure no one is infected. HOW CAN I BE SURE I’M NOT INFECTED? A quick check to be sure would be smart. Please try to go to one or all of the following antivirus vendor sites. If you get something OTHER than the sites for Norton Antivirus or F-Secure or McAfee, you are infected. Infected computers are prevented from surfing to antivirus vendors’ websites, a self-preservation piece built into the Conficker worm. Test these sites: http://www.symantec.com/norton/theme.jsp?themeid=conficker_worm&inid=us_ghp_link_conficker_worm http://www.mcafee.com/us/ http://www.f-secure.com WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I’M INFECTED? Again, if you can NOT surf to the above sites, or get something other than a website for Norton (Symantec) or McAfee or F-Secure you are infected. WHERE CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION? http://www...f-secure.com/weblog/archives/00001636.html - Has a layman’s FAQ and is a good place to start http://www.besekure.ku.edu/~privacy/cgi-bin/mydrupal/?q=node/116 - A write-up with a little more info done by KU campus IT Security Analyst, Julie Fugett http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962007 - Microsoft’s write-up - Home users would benefit most with this information _________________ An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it. |
