This is an open question for all candidates and current councilmen and mayors from either city. Would you support video taping business meetings and posting them on city websites ? Do you see any negatives or positives and what might those be ?

Iwould be completely for that. I see no negatives. The positives would be keeping the public fully informed and having a permanent record of meetings..not just minutes.

i would also see the citizens who ask the questions of the council. a lot can be learned by watching as well as listening!

I am totally for this do to the fact that some people may not be able to attend the meetings they can view it from there computer, I have spoken to some people of this, as you all may know we only take action minutes now and the discussions on certain matters are sometimes not posted on the minutes, other than going to city hall and listening to the recorder or I would have to write everything down and its hard for any of us to do that and speak at the same time, this would also help us if we get a question asked from months ago and not everyone has everything written down, this could also help our city clerk would she have to write all the minutes down if they were recorded by video. This is something that I will be looking into.

There have been discussions on and off about taping the council meetings.
This could be done for later viewing, but bandwidth requirments would make live streaming prohibitive.

To add to Councilman Crider's comment regarding the minutes, I belive a recording can be provided to anyone desiring one. It isn't necessary to listen to them at city hall.

We moved to the action minute format to save the City Clerk some time, and I agree with him that they are sometimes less than desirable.
